Battle of the Week: Bourjois Foundations
Since I found Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge, the amazing makeup artists in the UK who love Bourjois Foundation, I said to myself, you have to buy at least one of those! Thank God, here in Indonesia, we can buy Bourjois products easily. And when I went to Centro at Mall Of Indonesia last week, I paid a visit to their counter and found they have new foundation, Flower Perfection Youth Extension Foundation. They did a little promotion that day, so I bought this one cheaper than the normal price, only IDR 199,000. Talking about Bourjois foundation, I also have been using Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation since early September. So I thought, why not feature both of them in this week’s Battle Of The Week?
Now let’s start with the foundation that I’ve tried first…
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
What It Claims :
- Gives your skin a radiance boost up to 16 hours
- Gel texture blends and glides onto the skin for an even, natural finish with no mask effect
- Erases imperfections
- Smoothes sign of fatigue
- Skin looks rested
- The product feels light feel on the skin
Key Ingredients :
- Vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula with litchi, goji berries and pomegranates – help to even out complexion and make an instant anti-fatigue result
Packaging & Formula :
I do love the packaging. The bottle is sleek, not too big, and, of course, with pump . That’s what I love for a foundation packaging, so we have the full control for how much amount of product that we want to use. The size of this bottle is perfect in my makeup pouch, along with my Sigma F80 brush, of course. Its smell is soooo good, fruity in a good way, definitely not that bothering weird scent. Mine is in #53, the darkest color because at that time when I bought it, #52 was out of stock. I’ve tried to use it on its own for a couple times, and it’s true! The gel formula is very light on skin. It blends nicely and give my skin that smooth effect. Now about the claims for 16 hours: it does not last that long on my skin. Around 3pm, I found my redness starts to peek through. However, this foundation gives dewy finish which I love and also I can feel my skin moisturized. Because #53 is darker than my skin tone, I love pairing it with my BB Creams or another light color foundation so I can get the perfect color for me.
Bourjois Flower Perfection Youth Extension Foundation
What It Claims :
- Smooth and beautified complexion for up to 16 hours
- Gives a velvety smooth finish
- Skin is up to 70% smoother
- Pores and fine lines are corrected, with no mask effect, leaving the complexion perfectly even
- Non-comedogenic formula
- Skin stays supple all day long
Key ingredients :
- Wild azalea flower – protects skin cells for long-lasting youth extension
Packaging & Formula :
It has a built-in smoothing sponge applicator on the cap that we can use to buff the foundation onto the skin. It’s nice but I still prefer my brush because it’s so small and the handles is too short to hold. It also has SPF 15 which good for us. Mine is in #52 and it suits my skin tone. The texture is slightly thicker than Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, and it gives a very nice velvety, matte finish. Seriously, if you find a foundation that can give you a matte finish for A LONG TIME, this is the one. When I wore it for the first time, I was sooo impressed because I found my face still looking matte after 12 hours! Sure, my oil started to come out but NOT on a degree that I need oil paper or I need to touch up! But, of course, there is a but. If you have acne or in the middle of treatment, using this foundation is only give your dry patch and acne more noticeable. So make sure you do take a note on that.
When it comes to price, I think Bourjois foundations are on the low-middle level, because their normal price are over IDR 200,000, but under IDR 300,000. Of course these are cheaper than high-end brands like Lancome, YSL, Chanel, Dior, Giorgio Armani, etc. That being said, these are relatively affordable in my opinion.
So, Which One That I Love?
Actually, I love mixing these two together, so I can have a semi-matte-radiant finish, if that make sense. Both of them live up to most of their promises, no wonder a lot of professional makeup artists love this brand. But if I have to choose one, I will go with Healthy Mix Serum foundation. I love how it makes my skin look radiant, dewy finish, and moisturized. It doesn’t leave heavy feeling on my skin. Well… I really need to find #52
With their affordable price and great quality, and depending on what your skin type and your preferences, I highly recommend these two for you.
