Our Opinion; The Best Beauty Products of 2012
Beauty products come and go but some remains a favourite. Of course there are new ones as well coming our way that tickle our interest. It was tough to actually pick out a single product that represents the best of beauty product of 2012. Really tough! Especially when trying cornucopia of beauty products is part of the job. Not just for me, but for each and every single one of the crew, it’s a hard task. But still, we need to answer the question. Which product is on our list of best beauty products of 2012?
I was thinking of putting one of the skincare products that I’ve tried on this list. But many of them are splendid. Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum and Double Serum were both on my list. And then of course the beauty oils that have taken the girls at Female Daily by storm, such as the like of Argan Oil, Rosehip Oil and Tamanu Oil. My favourite is Trilogy Rosehip Oil with antioxidant, it’s beyond my expectation. I’ve decided to pick something else. Curious? Let’s find out the products that have made it on our list.
Make Up For Ever Face & Body Foundation
Hani, CEO – Female Daily Network
I truly thank God that this foundation found its way to me
. I’ve never been someone who likes to try foundation. I don’t wear foundation on a daily basis but this foundation changed my attitude towards foundation. It truly is the answer for someone who always feels most foundation feel too heavy. This one is so light I never feel like I’m wearing one. One layer gives enough coverage and makes my skin looks like it has a natural glow. If I need more coverage for a more dressier occasion, I can always layer more and I don’t have to worry it would become cakey.
Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Jelly SPF 30 / PA+++
Affi, Business Director – Female Daily Network
This product came to my attention late in the year that it almost didn’t make it to this list. But it is so good that I think I will use it a lot in the coming year. Biore is bringing in many great new products to the market recently and this sunscreen is one of them. What I think makes it a clear winner is the fact that Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Jelly SPF 30 has the lightest texture in comparison of other sunscreen products I have tried before. It comes in the gel formula that feels a bit cool to the touch, has a lovely citrusy scent and sinks to the skin at a lightning speed. It leaves NO white cast at all and it can be used for both face and body. Coming in at an affordable price at around less than IDR 125,000 makes this product even harder to beat. I’m a bit of a commitment-phobe when it comes to beauty products, even if I thought I had found “the” holy grail, I am always tempted to try other products to see if they work better. But now that I have Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Jelly SPF 30 in my hand, I think my search for the perfect sunscreen product is finally over!…..Or is it?
Talika Bust Serum
Amalia, Managing Editor – Fashionese Daily
The best beauty product that I’ve encountered in 2012 is actually the Talika Bust Serum. Hands down a bust serum that actually works! It promises to lift up your bust area to a more full well rounded look and a possibility of an enhancement to up to a cup. Wow that’s quite a promise! I’ll take on whatever that will help shape my bust to fight against the act of gravity. I felt a tingle all over my bust and slightly warm sensation every time I put it on. I see a significant change in the texture of the skin around the bust area. The skin feels suppler and because my ‘assets’ aren’t exactly twins, there has been a period of time where I could see a significant difference of the two where the upper part of one of my ‘assets’ becomes fuller. As it happens, after a period of time, the difference weren’t that significant anymore.
It’s not a breast enlargement procedure, so don’t expect anything magical. But it surely delivers more than what I had hoped for.
The problem is, this product is always out of stock! So when you find one, you better grab it fast!
La Roche Posay Cicaplast
Nopai, Operational Director – Female Daily Network
Ever since I was a teenager (until now) I have a big problem with acne, but not because I have sensitive skin. I’m not afraid to try new skincare or makeup products because it’s very rare that I’d get a reaction from new products. But a couple of months ago, I found something that seems to be a scar on top of my lips: bumpy, very dry and very red and caused the skin to peel. This happened a few times when I tried long lasting types of lipstick, but usually it would heal when I applied my normal favorite lip balm. This time, I tried putting this lip balm for 2 – 3 weeks with no effect at all. Then I read about Cicaplast that it’s safe for lips and I applied it on my lips. It works like magic. Only in a matter of two days my lips are back to normal.
Several weeks ago, I also experienced redness, dryness and skin that is peeling quite badly in the area below my right eye and eye cream didn’t do anything at all! When I went to Hong Kong two weeks ago, the redness and peeling has gotten worse, to a point where I couldn’t cover it with concealer anymore. And again, Cicaplast came to the rescue and my skin got better in only three days.
Of course, from then on, Cicaplast remains a ‘must-have’ in my skincare regimen.
Tarte SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner
Lena, Contributor – Fashionese Daily
The year 2012 was an exceptional one for me in terms of makeup: introductions to new brands (hello Edward Bess, Lise Watier, Laduree, Rock & Republic!), exceptionally good makeup (Tarte amazon clay blushes, Tarte amazon clay eyeliner, NYX soft matte lipstick), and what I think is my single, most expensive makeup purchase yet (yes that’s you, Laduree rose petals blush in #02 and your requisite blush pot!).
If I had to pick one best beauty product, that would be the Tarte SmolderEYES amazonian clay waterproof liner. These liners are soft (they don’t tug at your skin when you put them on), blend easily, vibrant in color, loooong lasting, don’t smudge, and the right size (not too skinny, not too chubby so blending over lids takes seconds, yet eye-lining is also possible, though not thin lines). They really personify effortless. With these, I can put on my eye makeup atop a moving ojek should I need to! The holiday set of 6 of these liners plus one skinny liner version was such a good deal, that I purchased two sets, and was about to purchase a third one if they weren’t out of stock. I will be travelling a lot in 2013 (fingers crossed), and these are just perfect to carry around. They will not melt, takes minimum space, and light weight. Score, score, score!
Avene Skin Recovery Cream.
Dinar, Language Editor – Fashionese Daily
I love this cream because it reduces skin irritation and redness on my face. It’s a Godsend, miracle cream. My skin has gotten a lot drier lately being inside an air conditioned room all day, and it might be one of the signs of aging. Prior to finding this Avene Skin Recovery Cream, nothing really worked. No face moisturizer was able to sink in to fix the problem because my pores were clogged up so badly. Forget using a face scrub to get rid of the dry skin. My skin was angry with bumps all over. It seemed that every skincare products I tried was just too harsh for my skin. Feeling defeated, I searched for the answer online and Avene website came to the rescue. I went through each and every product category. I placed myself in their ‘Intolerant Skin’ category and decided to try this cream. I went to Guardian the next day and went straight to their Avene section. I could see and feel the difference right away the first time I applied this on my skin and after the third day, my skin was back to normal. This cream is rich in Avene Thermal Spring Water which calms the skin. Now, I apply this cream regularly in the morning and in the evening. I have one at home, in my gym bag and in my purse.
The Body Shop Brow & Liner Set
Lita, Managing Editor – Mommies Daily
This is not exactly a new product. It’s in fact a long standing favourite of many. But I’ve just recently purchased one a couple of days ago. I used to use eyebrow pencil or once in a while a black or dark brown eye shadow to fill my brows. True to its reputation, this eyebrow set is really good. You’ll have natural looking eyebrows but still manage to look ‘different’.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Grisselda, Associate Editor – Fashionese Daily
If I can only choose one beauty product that deserves the title Best Beauty Product of 2012, it totally goes to Urban Decay Naked palette! I know this palette is not new anymore in the beauty industry, and you’re probably tired of reading about this particular palette. But I just want to be honest here and give you my opinion. This is a perfect palette containing mostly warm neutral colors. I literally can create LOTS of eye looks from this palette and I won’t need to grab any colors from another palette. I’ve been using this palette for 10 months now, and I barely hit a single pan! It lasts for a super long time and that’s why I love it. Great selection of colors, great staying power, and if you break down the price, it’s actually cheaper than you think!
Benefit Hello-Flawless, Oxygen Liquid Foundation
Nisa, Associate Editor – Fashionese Daily
For me, nothing can beat this foundation that goes on effortlessly and so cleanly and matches my medium, yellowish skin tone. It enhances my skin radiance, and doesn’t give me that unnatural look like any beige tone foundie does. Before this, I have difficulties in finding the right tone, and unfortunately many well- known brands don’t offer rather strong yellow based color. The light formula, coverage, and the satin finish is just amazing.
