Ada satu hal yang sangat saya senang lakukan pada saat akhir pekan, yaitu menggunakan masker wajah. Penggunaan masker wajah biasanya menyita waktu ekstra sekitar 15 menit kurang lebih. Oleh karena itu, hal tersebut sangat susah dilakukan pada hari-hari biasa. Inginnya kalau setelah kerja, kegiatan perawatan wajah seringkes mungkin. But come weekend, it’s time to pamper my skin. Tapi tetap saja, saya tetap memilih masker wajah yang bentuknya ringkes seperti tissue mask. Masker bentuk seperti ini biasanya sudah dipaketkan untuk sekali pakai. Dengan menggunakan konsentrat yang kaya dengan kandungan-kandungan untuk menutrisi kulit secara maksimal.

Disebut tissue mask karena konsentrat yang digunakan sebagai masker diserap oleh masker yang biasanya terbuat dari bahan semacam tisu namun jauh lebih tebal dari tisu biasa, malah beberapa masker memakai bahan yang sangat tebal sehingga maskernya bisa dipakai lebih lama lagi di wajah. Contohnya adalah masker SK-II, karena bahan tissue mask yang dipakai tebal sehingga mengandung cairan konsentrat lebih banyak dari kebanyakan tissue mask lainnya dan saya akan memakainya lebih lama dari anjuran – sekitar 20 – 25 menit sampai tissue mask terasa agak kering.

Apabila Anda menyukai Facial Treatment Essence, maka Anda juga akan sangat menyukai masker tersebut. This is an intesive moisture-boosting mask. Dengan konsentrasi Pitera yang sangat tinggi, masker tersebut dapat menghidrasi kulit yang sangat kering sekalipun akan tetapi tidak terasa berat di wajah. Karena Pitera adalah kandungan yang sangat ‘pintar’ maka produk ini cocok digunakan untuk kulit kering maupun berminyak. Tapi yang sangat saya sukai dari produk tersebut adalah perubahaan yang saya rasakan pada saat memakainya kalau kulit saya sedang dalam keadaan tidak prima – bisa disebabkan oleh kecapaian, kurang tidur ataupun kekeringan – dan seketika terasa langsung lembap dan kenyal.

Truth be told, when I was first invited to JAFRA’s press gathering, I was really clueless as to what this brand really is. JAFRA is apparently a cosmetic company from U.S.A which was founded in 1956 and uses direct selling as its method of distribution. I couldn’t help but to think that JAFRA is a kind of odd choice of brand name for a cosmetic company, somehow it insinuates something more serious and not feminine at all. Apparently the name JAFRA was taken from the founders – Jan and Frank Day.

The thing about direct selling and their glossy catalogue displaying wide arrays of products is that you think you need something, when the truth is, you don’t!

Like the JAFRA Malibu Miracle Mask that promises to lift up dead skin cells and sounds so earthy. Why would I need another mask? But at IDR 179,000 a pop for 50 ml, why not?

It’s said to be a popular product from JAFRA and it has a pretty pink thin clay looking mask with bits of sweet almond meal and barley flour for gentle exfoliation. It looks really thick with all the extra bits and you need to stir well so the ingredients mix well before you apply it to your face. I need about two tablespoons of product for my entire face.

Here’s what I do: I apply it on a dry face and apply it on one part of my face until it covers well before I move on to the next part. I was careful enough to not massage my face because I don’t want to do the exfoliation part too soon. Because of the rough bits when you massage it, you could feel how it also helps to slough away dead skin cells on your skin. You will need to wait for around 20 minutes – a tad too long in my opinion for a mask.

My first impression was how irritating the warming sensation of the mask on my skin. It felt slightly itchy and I swear I almost chickened out and washed the entire mask off my face. But I tried to be patient and around five minutes or so, both the warming sensation and the itchiness subsided, though it still slightly tingled. After 20 minutes, I expected the mask to harden just like how masker bengkoang would. Nope, it’s still paste-like as when I first applied it.

To wash it off, you just need to cleanse it with warm water and my suggestion is try not to massage your face because the rough bits could feel a bit rough on your skin. Just cleanse it off!

The result? I think this would be good for people with combination to oily skin as it doesn’t feel too moisturising as those sheet masks and the feel on my skin is super squeaky clean. It’s a great mask if you’ve been outdoor for far too long but not when you want a supple skin.

I wrote about the Lancôme x Alber Elbaz collaboration a while back and now that the images of the collaboration are ours, I definitely want to put it on my wish list! Lancôme is known for its excellent mascara range (and I also love their eyeliner to bits) so it was a very happy day when I found out that the fashion designer is going to launch a product with Lancôme which will include the mascara as well. The Hypnôse Show collection actually includes mascaras, eye palettes and false eyelashes. But the one that makes my heart beat faster is the Hypnôse Star mascara! With its short lifespan – only 6 months max. – having more than one mascara at any given time is no sin at all, especially when it’s so pretty!

Last year’s success of the Kardashian Kollection - exclusive to UK label Dorothy Perkins - has seemingly excited the sisters enough to encourage them to repeat the success by coming up with their a second collaboration. Dorothy Perkins is a brand we love because they have a friendly designs for all body types. Another plus point about the brand and also the collaboration is the very sensible price point. It will still remain within the affordable range that Dorothy Perkins has come to be known known for.

Fashionese Daily was lucky enough to be given the chance to interview the Kardashian sisters behind the collaboration: Kim, Kourtney and Khloé. They shared with us the inside story of the Kardashian Kollection, and also gave us an intimate look-see into  sisters’ personal style. Shall we get on with the interview, then?

How did you decide to make this collaboration with Dorothy Perkins?

Kim: We had such a great time designing our first collection for Dorothy Perkins and got the most amazing response when it launched in Indonesia last year. We were all excited to design our first Spring/Summer collection and bring some fun new prints and styles to everyone over here.

Kourtney: The great thing about designing for Dorothy Perkins is being able to take a risk with the trends. Fashion is so different in the UK and the rest of the world to how it is in the USA, so we’re able to experiment, which is something I love to do with fashion, and then see how people respond. I think this Kollection is really well put-together and we’re all really proud of it.

How did you divide the work? Did each one of you create your own design or did all three of you work together at the same time?

Kim: It’s important to us as designers and as sisters to all work together on the designs. We each have different looks and preferences but we’re inspired all the time from trends we see on the runway to different looks we see people wearing on the streets. We’re always sending each other pictures on our phones and sharing ideas.

Khloé: We all are involved in every stage of the design process from brainstorming ideas to sitting in on all of the fit meetings to make sure everything is just right. We don’t always agree about everything, but we always work together to make sure our final designs are something we all love.

What are the key pieces and staples for this collection?

Kim: I love the printed kaftan style dress. It’s great for lounging by the pool, but also makes a great evening look paired with a fun statement necklace and maybe some gold bangles and strappy heels.

Khloé: I think the white collarless shirt is a perfect staple piece. It’s lightweight and you can style it with just about anything. For summer try wearing it open over a bikini or with shorts at night.

Kourtney: I love the cream tux jacket and shorts two-piece suit. I’ve always liked the menswear look and this is a fun, feminine twist.

Please describe each of your respective fashion styles.

Khloé: I think I’m definitely the most casual out of the three of us. I do love getting dressed up and making outfits really glam with accessories, but I feel the most sexy in jeans and a t-shirt.

Kim: I like to wear pieces that makes me feel sexy and confident, which is why we have so many amazing bodycon dresses in our Kollection. I also love timeless looks like a simple blazer with a statement necklace or a tailored pant and heels.

Kourtney: Now that I’m a mom, I still like to mix it up but definitely think more about what’s practical. I love things that are comfortable but still chic. I love to experiment with my look—fashion should be fun, otherwise what’s the point?

Tell us your most favorite piece from this collection.

Kim: My favorite piece is the white dress with the sweetheart neckline – it’s such a classic shape. Glamorous but not overly sexy.

Khloé: I love the black panelled leggings because they work for day or night and are so easy to dress up or down. Leggings are always a must have!

Kourtney: One of my favorite pieces is the vegan leather skirt that comes in black and white. It’s a fashionable, high-end style that’s affordable and fun to mix with different looks.

What is the essence of the Kardashian fashion sense & style? What makes you different?

Kim: It’s all about feeling good about yourself and comfortable in your own skin. Why buy clothes that don’t make you look and feel your best? Being able to make women of all different shapes and sizes feel amazing and stylish is the reason why we created Kardashian Kollection.

Khloé: We really just wanted to bring our own sense of style to our fans but at an affordable price. When we were in London last we fell in love with the street style—it was so different than what you typically see in the States. We have had so much fun designing special pieces for our Dorothy Perkins line that incorporate some of our favorite UK inspired looks.

What is your favourite trend this summer?

Khloé: Graphic prints are huge this season and our latest collection for DP has some really fun styles that incorporate these cool prints. I especially love our kaftans.

Kim: Color blocking last year was all about mixing brights. Then the monochrome trend really took over and definitely became a favorite of mine… bold, yet simple. We combined these two trends to create color-blocked monochrome pieces. These are really classic looks and pieces that you will literally have in your closet for years.

How would you recommend adopting this trend?

Khloé: Just have fun with your fashion. Our Kollection is feminine, flattering and versatile. Mix it up to suit your body shape and personal style.
