Ini adalah liburannya ke negeri sakura bulan lalu, yang sangat istimewa karena bertepatan dengan sakura full bloom, so bisa puas foto-foto di tengah-tengah hamparan pohon sakura yang sedang bersemi. First look at her photos, I was so excited and love them all. Merasakan keceriaan dalam foto-foto ini, sekaligus mengagumi keluwesan Dhita dalam memadupadankan outfit setiap hari. Dhita really knows how to mix and match every fashion item she brought, and definitely not just some practical combo for traveler.

Hai Dhit, sekarang kegiatannya apa aja?

Karena saya adalah stay at home mom, tentunya kegiatan saya sehari-hari mengurus rumah dan keluarga, termasuk menjadi “sopir” nya Azka setiap hari. Biasanya kalo ada waktu senggang saya suka menulis blog di inidhita.com. Tapi makin jarang, nih, akhir-akhir ini karena kegiatan Azka sudah mulai banyak.

We adore how cute and flawless you look in these pictures. How do you describe your fashion style?

Apa, ya, agak bingung karena biasanya suka berubah-ubah tergantung mood saat itu. Ada kalanya sisi feminin saya muncul, that’s when I would wear draperies and flowy chiffon outfit with heels. But I wear jeans+simple top+flats most of the time. Usually I just add some accessories like bangles or statement necklace to complete the look. Also, I like to play with colors. Especially bright colors. Menurut saya, walaupun outfit-nya simple tapi kalau warnanya bright tetap bisa terlihat menarik.

Dhita and traveling, 2 hal yang gak bisa dipisahkan. Boleh di-share nggak, ‘kebijakan’ traveling atau liburan keluarga seperti apa? Biasanya lebih suka traveling dengan menyiapkan dan merencanakan semuanya sendiri, atau ikut ke travel agent?

Untuk liburan keluarga, yang paling penting buat kita adalah waktu penerbangan. Karena saya sudah bawa anak, kita biasanya cari flight tengah malam dan memprioritaskan yang tanpa transit atau kalaupun harus transit, jeda waktunya tidak terlalu lama. Supaya tidak terlalu capek di perjalanan. Selain itu, ketika memilih tujuan liburan, saya dan suami biasanya memilih kota/negara yang ada tempat wisata untuk anak-anaknya. Cause for us, it is important to see him happy and enjoying the holiday.

Kalau keluarga saya, sih, lebih memilih traveling yang kita siapin dan rencanakan sendiri. Walaupun mata ini jereng tiap hari mantengin thread di FD dan browsing sana sini. Rasa excited menunggu hari-H yang sudah kita rencanakan berbulan-bulan sebelumnya itu beda lho. Kepuasannya pun beda, apalagi kalau ternyata hotel dan semua tempat wisata pilihan kita sesuai ekspektasi.

The first thought that came to mind for the title of this article was “No Skinny Jeans, Please!” Some hijabers, myself included, really  feel ‘unsafe’ about the idea of wearing skinny jeans. The way they hug the legs so tightly shows no sign of modesty at all. The insecurity that skinny jeans bring to hijabers doesn’t stop there. This actually makes sense since we often find ourselves strolling inside different stores and mostly will only find skinny jeans. Of course, there are also flare and straight leg jeans – but they, too, are usually fitted around the thighs.

So, for hijabers, you might want to consider having a collection of boyfriend-style jeans. They guarantee you a looser fit appearance – that won’t fall too tightly around your legs and not as slouchy as wide-legged or flared jeans. You also don’t have to worry that them looking like a pair of oversized jeans and will not complement your figure.

The best thing about boyfriend jeans is that you can pair them up with any short hem tops – which doesn’t happen all the time for hijabers. Boyfriend jeans are perfect for any type of tops that fall short above the hips. As a hijaber, I always feel uneasy wearing  jeans or trousers that fit tightly around the crotch and rear area. Not only that this is against the syariah but it also shows too much of your figure. Boyfriend jeans, on the other hand, tend to have a looser fitting that won’t expose those areas.

Last year’s success of the Kardashian Kollection - exclusive to UK label Dorothy Perkins - has seemingly excited the sisters enough to encourage them to repeat the success by coming up with their a second collaboration. Dorothy Perkins is a brand we love because they have a friendly designs for all body types. Another plus point about the brand and also the collaboration is the very sensible price point. It will still remain within the affordable range that Dorothy Perkins has come to be known known for.

Fashionese Daily was lucky enough to be given the chance to interview the Kardashian sisters behind the collaboration: Kim, Kourtney and Khloé. They shared with us the inside story of the Kardashian Kollection, and also gave us an intimate look-see into  sisters’ personal style. Shall we get on with the interview, then?

How did you decide to make this collaboration with Dorothy Perkins?

Kim: We had such a great time designing our first collection for Dorothy Perkins and got the most amazing response when it launched in Indonesia last year. We were all excited to design our first Spring/Summer collection and bring some fun new prints and styles to everyone over here.

Kourtney: The great thing about designing for Dorothy Perkins is being able to take a risk with the trends. Fashion is so different in the UK and the rest of the world to how it is in the USA, so we’re able to experiment, which is something I love to do with fashion, and then see how people respond. I think this Kollection is really well put-together and we’re all really proud of it.

How did you divide the work? Did each one of you create your own design or did all three of you work together at the same time?

Kim: It’s important to us as designers and as sisters to all work together on the designs. We each have different looks and preferences but we’re inspired all the time from trends we see on the runway to different looks we see people wearing on the streets. We’re always sending each other pictures on our phones and sharing ideas.

Khloé: We all are involved in every stage of the design process from brainstorming ideas to sitting in on all of the fit meetings to make sure everything is just right. We don’t always agree about everything, but we always work together to make sure our final designs are something we all love.

What are the key pieces and staples for this collection?

Kim: I love the printed kaftan style dress. It’s great for lounging by the pool, but also makes a great evening look paired with a fun statement necklace and maybe some gold bangles and strappy heels.

Khloé: I think the white collarless shirt is a perfect staple piece. It’s lightweight and you can style it with just about anything. For summer try wearing it open over a bikini or with shorts at night.

Kourtney: I love the cream tux jacket and shorts two-piece suit. I’ve always liked the menswear look and this is a fun, feminine twist.

Please describe each of your respective fashion styles.

Khloé: I think I’m definitely the most casual out of the three of us. I do love getting dressed up and making outfits really glam with accessories, but I feel the most sexy in jeans and a t-shirt.

Kim: I like to wear pieces that makes me feel sexy and confident, which is why we have so many amazing bodycon dresses in our Kollection. I also love timeless looks like a simple blazer with a statement necklace or a tailored pant and heels.

Kourtney: Now that I’m a mom, I still like to mix it up but definitely think more about what’s practical. I love things that are comfortable but still chic. I love to experiment with my look—fashion should be fun, otherwise what’s the point?

Tell us your most favorite piece from this collection.

Kim: My favorite piece is the white dress with the sweetheart neckline – it’s such a classic shape. Glamorous but not overly sexy.

Khloé: I love the black panelled leggings because they work for day or night and are so easy to dress up or down. Leggings are always a must have!

Kourtney: One of my favorite pieces is the vegan leather skirt that comes in black and white. It’s a fashionable, high-end style that’s affordable and fun to mix with different looks.

What is the essence of the Kardashian fashion sense & style? What makes you different?

Kim: It’s all about feeling good about yourself and comfortable in your own skin. Why buy clothes that don’t make you look and feel your best? Being able to make women of all different shapes and sizes feel amazing and stylish is the reason why we created Kardashian Kollection.

Khloé: We really just wanted to bring our own sense of style to our fans but at an affordable price. When we were in London last we fell in love with the street style—it was so different than what you typically see in the States. We have had so much fun designing special pieces for our Dorothy Perkins line that incorporate some of our favorite UK inspired looks.

What is your favourite trend this summer?

Khloé: Graphic prints are huge this season and our latest collection for DP has some really fun styles that incorporate these cool prints. I especially love our kaftans.

Kim: Color blocking last year was all about mixing brights. Then the monochrome trend really took over and definitely became a favorite of mine… bold, yet simple. We combined these two trends to create color-blocked monochrome pieces. These are really classic looks and pieces that you will literally have in your closet for years.

How would you recommend adopting this trend?

Khloé: Just have fun with your fashion. Our Kollection is feminine, flattering and versatile. Mix it up to suit your body shape and personal style.

Now, all we need to do is wait for the collection to be available in store. And from what I see from the images, there are few items that I would love to have. I love the white dresses, but as you all know it could be quite tricky to wear them. But here are few other picks from the collection that caught my attention.

It has been almost two decades ago that I first had my pair of Levi’s jeans and since the Levi’s 501 is the most iconic jeans from Levi’s – or probably jeans in general – being a teenager that felt the need  to belong somewhere, I picked the Levi’s 501 from any other jeans that Levi’s had at that time. They may not be the latest cut and shape, but the silhouette remains a classic that you can still wear today or for years to come without feeling that they’re outdated. I still remember my 501 pair vividly. They were a red pair of jeans and I am not the only one who’s  reminiscing with the wide-array of Levi’s 501 colour selections back in the 90′s. Our favourite columnist. @LyndaIbrahim, too shares the same memory with me. But that’s the thing about Levi’s 501. Just with a little touch, you can bring them back to life and give them a touch of trend that is currently happening at the moment. It’s simply because Levi’s 501 jeans are a timeless piece.

So why are Levi’s 501 jeans so iconic? Because they never stop to evolve according to time and adapt to the changes that are faced by different generations. They’re also famous for their toughness and durability and their ability to sort of adapt themselves to the contours of the wearers’ bodies overtime to create a unique classic yet timeless shape of a jeans.

What’s difference with Levi’s 501 at their 140th anniversary? They’re coming out with a non-denim Levi’s 501 collection for the first time, while still embodies the Levi’s 501 gene and tradition, but with a touch of today’s trend.
