Our Skincare Arsenal: Vanya

I only started using skincare when I turned 26. Way too late, I know. Before that I didn’t even know the difference between tinted moisturizer and foundation, and never knew there’s such thing as serum. My skin condition was really horrible at that time. And it was still not improving much.

Fast forward to two years later, when Amal finally joined Female Daily Network for full time. I still remember her first comment when she saw me in the office during her first week. “What happened to your skin?” and when she found out I only use moisturizer and nothing else for my skincare regimen, she was so surprised, and the next day she brought several jars and bottles and asked me to use them regularly. And she kept track! She used to check on my face from time to time before she finally sure that I have now understand the importance of skincare.

However when she asked me to write this article, I was reluctant for around 2 months, until now, when I got my skin tested and the result shows, that, even though my skin condition is not as good as I want it to be, it is not on it’s worst condition :) So here’s my skincare arsenal.

(Notes: I have very dry skin, spots and sideburns, so as you will see below, I try to keep my skin extra moisturized all the time as well as focussing on brightening care)

FD-ers Review on Artistry Intensive Renewing Peel

I’ve given you the review on the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel before, now it’s time to read the review on this product from other FD-ers!

This product promises a healthier looking skin in just 8 minutes of use in 8 weeks time by using it twice a week. With the wonder of Mucor Miehie Mushroom that works to lift up your dead skin cells just until it reaches the cells where the PH is balanced, it will help to exfoliate your skin just enough without causing any irritation.

This product costs Rp 999,500 for non member price and it’s in 20ml packaging which is enough for 8 weeks or 16 times of use. But if you’re joining Amway’s Privileged Customer program you can get a distributor discount too without having to run the business. Isn’t that sweet?

If you want to know more detail about the product, you can read it on my previous post which also has a video on how to use the product. Now let’s read on what other FD-ers have to say about this product, shall we?

Chylpester

Skin condition: Noticeable rough looking skin, dry and dull. Very visible fine lines around the eye area too

I first tried out the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel and pumped 8 full pumps as instructed on the leaflet. What I like about the gel formula is that it glides over my face easily, makes applying the product no hassle at all for me. Definitely no problem even from the first usage. It is also said on the leaflet, slight tingling might be experienced when I use it, which I did feel. 10 minutes later (actually the instruction said to wash after 6 to 8 minutes), I washed my face with warm water and found my face turning a little reddish. After applying toner, a few minutes later, it turned back to normal.

I have to say, honestly, I wondered how a gel could work as a peeling gel and makes a difference to my skin. I thought the process of peeling would only work with a scrub exfoliate. After my first time of usage, what’s visible for me was that my skin looked a little lighter, but not something that was significant. Using it twice a week and two weeks later, I can clearly see the difference on my skin! It looks healthier, brighter, no more dullness and definitely an even out complexion! Regular use of this product definitely makes significant impact to the condition of my skin. Now, I just love the glow that comes out of it after washing.

Starting now, I make peeling an important part of my skin care regime. No more dullness, because peeling takes away dead skin cells, and gives your face an instant glow that every girl wants to have. Artistry Peeling Gel might be on the expensive side, but I must say after a month of regular use, it is well worth the price.

Simandoux

Skin condition: Dry with few oily patches. Worsen because I have to stay in the air-conditioned room all day. I have dark spots on the cheeks (I saw this worsened when I was using birth control pills), wrinkles around the eyes.

I really love the pump packaging. It’s mess-free and easily gives me the correct amount of product without fearing I dispose too much or too little (8 pumps!). I also like the texture of the mask, it can easily be wiped off from the face and hands. In the packaging we’ve already been warned that the mask won’t dry completely so I find no problem in that too. Honestly I often leave the mask longer than 8 minutes because I think 8 minutes are to short of time to lie down and relax with your mask. I leave it 10 minutes more or less. I’ve been using it about 5 times now (once or twice a week). When I put it on, it instantly gives tingles, which I kinda like. I didn’t notice any dramatic difference upon first usage, but from the last 2 usage I noticed my skin is brighter afterwards and when I cleaned it, it also seemed to have a lot less dead skin cells. Also my skin doesn’t feel dry or tight after using this mask, (usually face masks do this to my skin) so it’s pleasant that I don’t have to rush to put moisturizer afterwards. But I haven’t noticed any improvement of my dark spots or overall on skin texture. I will continue using it hoping my dark spots will fade.

Skin Condition: Combination skin type with oily T-zone, the rest is normal. Occasionally dehydrated as well. I have skin discoloration caused by sun exposure.

I don’t find any problem with the formula. It’s easily spread on my face. Feels alright. I also experienced no problem during the use. No tingling, no stinging sensation. Once, I forgot to rinse right away after it stayed 8 minutes on my face. So it took me about 15-20 minutes later. But nothing bad happened. After massaging my face with wet finger and then rinsed, it still felt the same like I have done with 8 minutes use.

What I like about the peel is: easy to use. Just smooth thin layer over my face, wait for 8 minutes, massage with wet fingers, rinse. That’s all it takes.

Now, about the difference before and after using Artistry Intensive Renewing Peel. Well, I have to say I don’t feel any significant change.Yes, my skin felt supple & moist after applying this peel, but it also feels that way after I use my regular moisturizer. No, I don’t say it is a bad product, it is good in fact. Because it doesn’t make my skin drier or oilier or not good in anyway. It’s a good addition to my skincare routine.

FOTD: Dendang Rebana

Sariayu came up with such gorgeous collections this year. It’s very hard to pick out a favorite from the 4 collections of The Exotic Indonesia trend because they’re all pretty and wearable. But if I have to choose just one, I’ll have to say that Dendang Rebana eyeshadow is the winner!

Like the other collections, Dendang Rebana has a trio of eyeshadows. The shades are 1 dark grey/taupe, 1 mid tone pink and 1 spring green.

All shades are beautiful on their own or when mixed together, even though the pink one is a little too sheer, but what really stands out for me is the green shade. I get so many compliments whenever I wear it and girls always ask me what green eyeshadow I wear. It’s bright mint green with golden sheen and reminds me of Springtime Skipper eyeshadow from MAC loves Barbie collection.

In this photo, I just apply the green shade all over my lids, put the dark grey on the crease and blend them together. I use MAC Vanilla on the browbone and that’s pretty much it. To make my eyes pop even more, I line them with MAC Penultimate Liner in Rapid Black and use Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Graffiti in the lower lines.

Do you like my lip color? It’s my all time favorite hot pink lipstick and it’s from MAC Liberty of London collection, called Petals and Peacocks. In real life, it’s even brighter!

Here’s the complete list of products that I used:

Face

  • Artistry Ideal Dual Powder Foundation SPF 18/PA++ in Ochre
  • MAC Mineralize Blush in Merrily
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Pink Porcelain

Eyes

  • Sariayu Dendang Rebana eyeshadow
  • MAC Vanilla eyeshadow (as highlighter)
  • MAC Penultimate Liner in Rapid Black
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Graffiti
  • Maybelline Cat Eyes mascara
  • Artistry Brow Define in Deep Brown

Lips

  • MAC Petals & Peacock Lipstick
  • MAC Dazzleglass in Fantabulous

First Look into Artistry Skincare

Last week I got invited to try ARTISTRY’s Facial Analysis Computer Evaluation System or in short F.A.C.E.S. It sounds like state of the art skin analysis, which is exactly what it was. I got cold feet the morning before I needed to go to the ARTISTRY Experience Center because prior to this the beauty consultant at ARTISTRY explained to me that with F.A.C.E.S they can read my skin’s condition inches by inches. It gives a detailed analysis on my skin’s condition. Like I said a skin test is as excoriating as your yearly medical check up!

For those who are not yet familiar with ARTISTRY , it’s a beauty brand by AMWAY that is sold through multi level marketing/MLM. They’re name as five of the biggest-selling beauty brands in the world ten years in a row according to Euromonitor Sales 2009. It’s sold in over 80 countries in the world and held more than 200 patented products and they strive to continuously create new innovation in this field. They’re product are clinically tried and of high quality and standard.

I am not one of those people that can easily be bought with marketing promises, especially when my skin is at stake. Knowing that I can’t easily be convinced of the wondrous thing ARTISTRY marketing tries to sell, on my first meet up with their team I got a package full of product information and an invitation to come to ARTISTRY ’s Experience Center. With more product knowledge at hand, those promises above in mind I finally step into the ARTISTRY ’s world.

First thing first, my F.A.C.E.S result turns to be not as scary as I thought it was. Although it gave a very in-depth explanation of my skin concern, like where the hyperpigmentation, fine lines and the ones going deeper and bacteria build-up, but knowing the specific concern helped the ARTISTRY team to better give me a solution for my skin problem. For instance, in some areas I have more hyperpigmentation than others which can be corrected by using spot corrector and some skincare containing Vitamin C. Whereas for the fine lines that are feasible on the corner of my eyes and smile lines, I can use some wrinkle related serum. Well actually F.A.C.E.S result gives you the specific ARTISTRY product that you can use to tackle this problem.

Anyway I brought home a bottle of ARTISTRY Multi Protect SPF 30/PA+++ from my visit there. Where I also got the chance to try on their various skincare products. A small baby step at a time, where it begun with the sunscreen. I kind of like the lotion like finish of this sunscreen which also has very little white cast. The colour looks a little bit pinkish beige but it turns colourless to the touch. It has broad spectrum protection and waterproof! Horay!

On my way out I noticed a big statue of the ARTISTRY Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel on the receptionist area. They said they’re going to launch it tomorrow! I got an invitation too, but to bad I can’t come since I will be out of town. But they promise me that they’ll send me a product *big yay!* so a review coming up once I got the chance to try it on.

In the meantime, if you have a friend that happens to sell ARTISTRY product, I suggest for you to take time to flip through their catalogue. You’ll find many hidden treasures.

If you ever wonder where ARTISTRY came from, it’s actually from the U.S. and all their products are made from there.
