For years and years, I’ve always kept my hair short. It’s mostly for practicality and also I think I look better with short hair. But since 2012 is the year of change for me, I’ve decided to try growing my hair long just to keep up with the theme

How is it working out for me so far? Well my hair has barely touched my shoulder so it is actually still in a pretty awkward phase. If I don’t style my hair correctly, it looks very messy (and not in a good “messy but sexy” way that other girls seem to be able to do). So everyday, I have to blowdry my hair after I wash it. But I am trying to enjoy the process. I have not been able to experiment much with my hair due to its limited length and now I can! I’ve also recently joined the GHD bandwagon following Wulan in this post and so far I am very happy with the result of using this incredible tool!

In this photo, I just got my hair trimmed by Bun from One Piece Hair Studio in Kuningan City. I also did a DIY hair color at home and styled my hair with GHD. What do you think? Not bad for an amateur like me, right?

Misch at Happy Go Lucky top / Alexaalexa skirt / Gexxy New York bag / Jefrrey Campbell pumps / Daniel Wellington watch / Various unbranded bracelets

Oh by the way, if you like experimenting with your hairstyles, don’t forget to take pictures and organize them at Clozette Daily, like I did!

Finally, I have arrived at the last series of my Australia visit. In addition to my daily outfit, I still have a series of Kuala Lumpur visit to post . I guess it would be impossible to write everything in the last days of 2012. So one of my 2013 resolutions has been decided: to allocate more time to write. One full day a week would be wonderful (and I can see the editorial team nodding in agreement).

This wasn’t exactly my last day in Sydney as I flew back the day after but my flight was at 11 am so it’s not like I had time to explore the city before my flight. The first stop that day was to visit The Rocks market by the Circular Quay. It’s another “must visit” place in Sydney. There are so many talented local artists showcasing and selling their works; from accessories to clothes to home decor, artworks, bath and body products. Oh and also food such as popcorn and lemonade. Even though the market is located right in the city but somehow it still feels authentic and not commercialized.

After that, we took a ferry trip to Manly Beach! The view on the way there and back is of course spectacular. I love ferry rides, because there’s just no rush so you can enjoy the moment and take it all in. From the ferry, you can see the Opera House, Sydney skyline and the famous Harbour Bridge and the ocean. There’s a kiddy area at the beach near the ferry dock, so I let the kids played with the sand some more. We visited Chinatown and before going back to the hotel, we went a bit crazy at the supermarket.

What do you do on your last day in Melbourne? Drink more coffee, of course!. That last morning, I went to Deszell almamater, Melbourne University. It’s like a tradition for me and my husband to visit the famous university on the town that we’re visiting. It’s a different kind of sightseeing, but I love school and love being in a campus so we always make sure to visit one wherever we go. Another reason to visit Melbourne University was because there is one of the best coffee shops in the world located just near the law building, called Seven Seeds. The Affogato was really good that my husband ordered the second one as soon as he finished his first cup.

Look at the beautiful art latte. Can I have it everymorning, please?

Joe’s Jeans Blazer | Forever 21 white tee | New Look Skirt | Jeffrey Campbell Wedges | Mango Scarf | Longchamp Cuir

After that, we walked around the campus and let the kids played in the playground while I enjoyed the morning breeze. And what do you do while waiting for the kids? Take outfit pictures, of course . I was wearing a long skirt, something I had never done before. But that’s the thing with traveling, you’re visiting a new place and the chance of you bumping into someone you know is small, so why not try a new style altogether? Since you don’t bring many clothes, you have no choice but to wear the damn skirt anyway . Turned out, I liked wearing the long skirt, I haven’t worn it again since (and I bought it during my Umrah trip last April!) but I will soon!. The denim blazer is always a favorite. The scarf though, as much as I like the colorful prints and the fact that it’s silk, somehow didn’t turn out right with this outfit. ‘Kaya Syahrini’, was the comment I received from my husband. No offense to Syahrini fans, but that wasn’t the look I was going for.

Done with the campus area, we headed to Southwarf DFO for a little bit of shopping. And then, a trip to Melbourne wouldn’t be complete without a ride of the old and iconic Melbourne tram with its specific route, so that’s what we did before heading to the airport.

Melbourne Library, where we waited for the tram

So long Melbourne!

I haven’t posted my today’s outfit pictures from my trip to Australia, but I did write what I noticed about Australia shopping scene in this post. So if you are planning to go there and it’s your first visit, don’t forget to read the article.

I arrived in Melbourne around 7 o’clock in the morning. The flight with Garuda was awesome. I have never flown with Garuda beyond Singapore so I didn’t know what to expect. Turned out, it was a very pleasant experience. Somehow, it makes me proud seeing all the bules line up in the ticket counter of our national airline . The flight home was equally pleasing. You gotta LOVE Garuda on-board immigration service! You don’t have to be someone with a last name now to walk straight through the immigration counter. Bye-bye long queue!

Zara Jersey Blazer | Colorbox T-shirt | Zara Jeans | Jeffrey Campbell Wedges | Louis Vuitton Neverfull

The picture above was taken around Federation Square. I’ve just arrived, dropped my suitcases in Citadines Apart Hotel in Bourke Street and walked around the area right away. Yes it’s the same outfit I wore on the plane. At my first encounter with Melbourne end of winter breeze, I was like ‘Shooot, I guess I underestimated Melbourne’s weather’. It was colder than I had expected. But the weather got a bit warmer in the afternoon before it went cold again in the evening. I LOVED it though, it’s the reason why I wanted to go to Australia at this specific month. I just wasn’t prepared with the coat.

Around Federation Square, Flinder Street Station and Melbourne CBD. The Yarra river is not far from there too.

Melbourne is lovely! It’s not too big but not too small. Definitely my kind of city I love its laid-back feel along with the coffee shops & the scrumptious desserts. And of course the iconic tram and the fact that it’s so easy to maneuver around the city. It kind of reminds me of San Francisco in a smaller scale.

On this first day, we just explored the city area. I was happy I got to eat delicious roast beef with caramelized onion, mashed potato & grilled veggies, something that I always associate with Australia when it comes to food. Stopping by at coffee shops every few hours seemed to be the routine on that first day. In fact, I ended the day at Chocolateria San Churro. I think I can still taste in my mouth the Melbourne coffees and all the desserts I ate.

Melbourne tram

More pictures and stories to come

It was one fine day when I stepped into the office just to find out Nopai was wearing a similar outfit as I. From the shirt, the jeans and even the necklace. So what can we do but took picture? (right after comparing each other’s items, of course )

It was a nice coincidence that we had lunch at dia.lo.gue at Kemang that day. The restaurant-slash-gallery not only serves delicious food (not too many options, though) and sells nice stuff, it also happens to have many beautiful spots for picture taking. Oh, by the way, the picture above is my most favorite dish there. Grilled chicken with pesto pasta. Sorry.. can’t help but post it

And so here I present you, the splurge and steal of Female Daily Crew Today’s Outift.

On Me

White Shirt: Bought it in Mama Leon Factory Outlet in Bali for Rp. 149,000. I actually bought the shirt for my boyfriend, but apparently it’s too small for him. So I am the one who end up wearing it all the time.
Skinny Jeans: Unbranded, bought it from a friend for Rp. 99,000
Bag: Lauren Bag from Ciciero Rp. 280,000
Shoes: Michael Michael Kors Rp. 999,000
Watch: Levi’s. Got it from a press event. Rp. 0 (the perks of working in a media:))
Turquoise Necklace: A gift from Syita from her trip to India Rp. 0
Total: Rp. 1,527,000

A closer look on the Lauren bag by Ciciero

On Nopai
White Shirt: Kle Rp 75,000
Skinny Jeans: GAP around Rp 800,000
Bag: Louis Vuitton Palermo GM, she bought it in Germany for € 1080 or around Rp. 13,000,000
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Rp 1,300,000
Watch: Tag Heuer Aqua Racer, she bought it years ago where it was still around Rp 6,000,000 and now it’s probably cost more than Rp 11,000,000. So you see, buying a good watch is actually an investment if you consider how much the price keeps going up every year. Especially the classic ones, they’re worth every penny that you part with.
Turquoise Necklace: Banana Republic Rp 1,100,000
Total: Rp 22,275,000

It was so sunny that day, Nopai also took her favorite sunglasses by Marc by Marc Jacobs. I like the color that is neutral and the shape that is simple. She got it ages ago from Optik Melawai, so I don’t think they still have it in stock.

There’s another similarity between our outfit that day. Not only that we wore the same style of outfit, but we actually bought our shoes at Rococo! The pairs that we got are actually from their recent collection, but we love to visit their outlet, Rococo Rack located at Dharmawangsa Square, every once in a while to snatch a steal.

Upon seeing this post, don’t you think skinny jeans and white shirt are two must haves items in your wardrobe?

That day, we planned on furniture hunting at Informa near our office. But before that, Affi, Nopai and I had lunch first at Kem Chick. Btw, did you know that Nopai is now a partner in Female Daily Network? So happy to have her on board

On the way out of the Kem Chick, we spotted the legendary om Bob Sadino who was talking with his stuff. When we walked past him, he greeted us with a very friendly smile as if he was our biggest fans! I should’ve stopped by his table and asked for a picture(!) Who knows maybe his fortune will rub off on me

After that, we went across the street to Informa. Of course we (ok, it was just me) took picture when the sales assistant checked out the inventory in the back A lot of people avoid mixing brown and black. On the contrary, I found myself wearing the combination quite often. I know it can make you look drab, old, boring but I think if you choose the right combination, style and accessories, it can be avoided. Whenever I wear solid color of brown and black, I always choose my Louis Vuitton Speedy, I just love how well the monograms go with the color.

Top: Zara
Skirt: NYLA
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy 35

At first, I was hesitant to take pictures of this outfit but then I thought to my self, why not? I haven’t posted outfit pictures for a while and if I wait for the perfect moment, like when my hair looks nice and my outfit is lovely from head to toe and location and other props are supporting, it is never gonna happen anyway because something else is going to come up that makes me forget to take picture. And admit it, we all don’t look flawless, so let’s just be real and be fearless to show how we really look on day to day basis.

Batten Clothing button flap jacket. The picture doesn’t do it justice, you have to check its website to see a more promising picture. This lightweight jacket can be worn in different ways, not bad at all for something that is priced at Rp 249,000. I’m so going to get another color when they release a new one. Ohh and I’m eyeing on the shoulder drape cape too

(X)SML green blouse

Zara Belt

Zara skirt

Jeffrey Campbell strappy wedges. I’ve just walked on these to and from Warung Menado for lunch and then all the way to Starbucks Tamani from the office. Much more comfortable than flats

MyTulisan ‘Amma Supahilo’ bag. I have discovered this bag since early January but this bag hasn’t received the highlight that it deserves in this blog. I especially adore this bag because the first time I visited the booth, I got to talk to Melissa’s mother, who passionately told me about the bags, the story and the road to finally launch the label. It’s true that you will more appreciate something if you know the story behind it.

By the way, do you know that Amma Supahilo is read I’m a superhero ? Makes me feel empowered whenever I tote around this bag. Since then, I always stop by the booth whenever they have one at Dharmawangsa Square to admire the bags or pick up a present for someone.

I’ve always been a pump kind of girls. To me, pump shoes are classic and the little black dress of shoes, you can never go wrong with pump shoes. I did venture out to the gladiator type a while back. A pair of flats sandal to take me around Europe, because I knew my clothes were gonna be substandard so I relied on statement sandals to spice up the look.

I know shoes or fashion in general is an extension of ourselves. We can express our personality through the style and the color that we chose. But it wasn’t until last month, when my mom was hospitalized for a week that I suddenly had the urge to buy specific shoes in conjunction with what I felt inside. Being the oldest daughter, of course I was the one who was in charge for everything. I won’t be going into details here but in addition to my mom being sick, let’s just say there was a challenge I need to tackle by myself (with the husband supporting from behind). And somehow, I found consolation in those fierce-looking shoes. It felt as if those can give the power and the strength I needed and those straps hug my feet comfortably as if it was to say everything would be okay. A very supportive bunch indeed And those tangled straps are also a reflection of what I felt inside; complicated.

Here’s from left to right:

Aldo wedges. At 70% off. I took them home in a heart beat.

Another Aldo, but these ones are heels. Got them from Lynda Ibrahim, a Closet Quickies customer who wrote for Fashionese Daily too a couple of times.

UP Anjani Wedges. Gotta love the batik straps. I haven’t had luck with local shoes before, but these ones are so comfy and light that I could wear them all day. The craftsmanship is superb too.

Jeffrey Campbell Ibiza. I’ve always loved Jeffrey Campbell shoes, they are quality shoes that is reasonably priced. The nude/raw leather wins it for me because even though they get dirty easily, they will turn into honey color with each day I wear them and will be a showcase of where I’ve been and what I’ve been through.

By the way, I didn’t get those when my mom was in the hospital though. Those were acquired afterward. Now thank God mom is back in her active mode and I couldn’t be happier (because she is healthy..and because my shoes family are growing )

Finally, Jeffrey Campbell shoes are now available in Jakarta thanks to Tribute who’s going to stock them starting from tomorrow, 25 August 2010!

I’ve seen many Jeffrey Campbell everywhere and have been drooling over them. One of the shoes that caught my attention was the Tick Peep Toe Wedge. It’s definitely an attention grabber with metal hardware buttons covering the wedge part. I’m pretty sure that you’ve seen their buckle strap ankle boots named Potion, at the least I’ve seen many copies already and everytime I go to the mall I saw at least one girl wearing similar type shoes.

Jeffrey Campbell itself was actually started as a small family-owned, fashion-forward footwear label ten years ago in Los Angeles. Their inspirations came from latest runway trend, mixed with vintage inspiration and those that came from day-to-day interaction. Their shoes have become more commonly known in recent years because they provide the latest styles in affordable prices.

Tribute store will have 4 different styles of Jeffrey Campbell shoes starting tomorrow. If you want to join the latest clog craze, they have the Snick Stud. Whereas for those whose drooling over the potion ankle boots you can go for Belgium, a buckle strap wedge but it’s not as high so it’s easier to wear. The other two are ankle boots wedge Mary Roks and Ninety Nine.

Which ones do you think fit your style?

I have this undescribable craving of python print shoes these past few days. Maybe because I just realized that I don’t have (many) statement shoes..:D. Most of my shoes are kind of like blend in with the wardrobes and don’t stand out by themselves. I believe python prints are classic and can be paired with just about any solid colors, especially red, black or white!!. The problem is it’s tricky to find the right one, they can either make you look to the nines and classy or cheap and trashy. The ones above are from Jeffrey Campbell, they are not exactly what I have in mind, but they are the perfect mix of what I’m craving at the moment; bold looking shoes and python print shoes. The color combination is a match made in heaven..:-o)
